1.0 INTRODUCTION 
1. 1 Uthingo Management  (Pty)  Ltd  (`Uthingo')  is  licensed  under  the 
Lotteries Act No 57 of 1997 to conduct and promote the National 
Lottery and Constituent Games in South Africa. These  Rules  apply  to  the  game  of  Lotto  which forms  part  of  the 
National Lottery. 2.0 DEFINITIONS 
2.1 The following words and terms, when used within these Rules, shall 
have  the  following  meanings,  unless  the  context  clearly  indicated 
otherwise: 
Board or Game Board Means  a  grid  of  numbers between  1  and 49 
and the identifying and associated letter which 
together constitute a single Game Board on a 
Lotto  
Entry Coupon. Bonus Number Means the number randomly selected from the 
remaining forty three (43) numbers at a Draw 
immediately  after  the  Main Numbers have 
been selected. Cancelled Draw Any Draw which does not take place by reason 
only of the expiry, suspension or revocation of 
Uthingo's Licence under section 17 of the Act. Claim Form The printed form issued by Uthingo which a 
Player must complete and submit to Uthingo, 
together  with  a  Valid  Winning Ticket,  to  be 
eligible to claim certain prizes as specified in 
these Rules. Claimant A person who submits a claim for a Lotto prize 
within the applicable claim period as stipulated 
by these Rules.

Defective Ticket A Ticket which  at  the  time  of  purchase  is 
damaged, defaced, illegible or incomplete or 
which  contains  the  words  ``void''  or  ``not  for 
sale'' or similar wording.  Means the process which is used to randomly 
select a set of Winning Numbers.  Machine A device used by Uthingo and authorised by 
the National Lotteries Board for the random 
selection of Winning Numbers. Exchange Ticket Means the Ticket issued by the Terminal when 
a winning Multi-Draw Ticket is presented for 
payment (provided that the Ticket presented 
is  still  valid  for  future  Draws) and  will  show 
the remaining number of Draw dates for which 
the Ticket remains valid. Game Means the National Lottery Lotto Game 
High  --  Tier 
Prize A prize of over R50 000 
Lotto  Entry Coupons A preformatted card provided  by  Uthingo 
bearing the numbers from which a Player can 
make his/her selection.A Lotto Entry Coupon 
may carry several Game Boards. The Licence 
to Operate the South African National Lottery 
refers to an Entry Coupon as a Playslip.

Lotto A    numbers game where  a  player  selects  six 
numbers from a grid of predetermined range 
of  numbers.   These numbers are marked on 
an Entry Coupon which is read by an electronic 
terminal located in a retail outlet. The selected 
numbers are recorded on a central computer 
via a communications network. A Lotto ticket 
is  printed which  is  the Player's record of the 
numbers they have purchased for a particular 
draw. Low- Tiere Prize 
A prize between R1 and R2 000 inclusive. Mail Subscription Means a procedure adopted by Uthingo which 
enables  a  member  of  the  Playing  Public  to 
participate in Lotto for a multiple number of 
Draws other than by purchasing a Ticket at a 
Retail Outlet. Main Number The six numbers randomly selected at a Draw 
from the range 1-49 inclusive. Mid  -Tier Prize A prize between R2 001 and R50 000 inclusive 
Minor An individual younger than 18 years of age. Multi Draw An  entry  from  a  Player  who  has  marked  the 
panel on the Lotto Entry Coupon to indicate 
that the selected numbers should be entered 
for between 2 and 10 consecutive Draws. Player A member  of  the  public  aged over 18  years 
who purchases a Ticket. Playing Public Members  of  the  public  who are  eligible  to 
purchase Tickets.

Recipient The person  to  whom a Mail  Subscriber  has 
assigned the rights in a subscription. Regional Office Means a National  Lottery  Office  designated 
as such by Uthingo. Retailer Means  any  person,  firm  or  company 
authorised  by  Uthingo  to  sell  Tickets  and/or 
pay prizes in respect of Valid Winning Tickets. Retail  Outlet Means any premises (including premises where 
an attended vending machine  is  situated) 
where tickets in a Constituent Lottery are sold 
to  Players who attend personally  at  the 
premises. Selection Means one  set  of  six  numbers chosen  by  a 
Player  within one Board on  a  Lotto Entry 
Coupon and recorded on  a  Ticket  (or  in  the 
case of subscriptions) Subscription Certificate, 
issued in accordance with these Rules. Serial  
Number The unique number assigned  by  Uthingo's 
central  computer and printed on  a  Ticket 
which, subject to these Rules, provides for the 
verification  of  the  Ticket  as  a  valid  winning 
Ticket or otherwise.The Serial Number may 
be in the form of digits, a bar code or any other 
form. Subscriber Means  a  person  who  completes  a  Mail 
Subscription Application Form, which  is 
accepted by Uthingo. Terminal Means  the  device  which  allows  Tickets  to  be 
printed and winning Tickets to be validated.

Ticket Means a ticket in Lotto issued by a Terminal 
and sold by an authorised Retailer  in  an 
authorised manner. Valid  Winning Ticket Means  a  winning Ticket which meets  all  of 
Uthingo's Ticket validation requirements as set 
out or referred to in these Rules. Winning Number Means  the  Main Numbers and one Bonus 
Number, used  to  determine the winning 
entries.

3.0 LOTTO DRAW 
3.1 The Lotto Draw will take place once per week on Saturday or such 
other days as may be specified by Uthingo in consultation with the 
National Lotteries Board 
3.2 In each Draw seven (7) balls will be drawn at random from a Drawing 
Machine containing forty nine (49) balls numbered 1 to 49. 3. 3 The  first  six  (6)  numbers drawn are  the  Main Numbers and the 
seventh number drawn is the Bonus Number. 3.4 Numbers are deemed to be drawn when a  ball  rests  in  the display 
section at the front of the Drawing Machine. 3. 5 
All Draws will be conducted in the presence of an independent auditor. 3. 6 The Winning Numbers  of  the  Draw  shall  be  those  drawn and  as 
recorded in writing immediately following the Draw by a witness as 
described in Rule 3.4 above. 3.7 In the event that any Draw is declared invalid in accordance with the 
procedures applicable to it, or is interrupted due to equipment failure, 
another Draw will be conducted to determine the Winning Numbers. Any numbers previously drawn  will  remain  valid,  and  only  the 
selection of the remaining balls will take place. 3.8 In the event that the Draw cannot take place on the advertised date 
or at the time fixed, it shall take place as soon as practicable thereafter. 3.9 All Draws will, as far as practicable, be broadcast/conducted live and 
will be recorded on a video and audio tape which will be retained by 
Uthingo. Failure by Uthingo to record the draw or retain the tape, or 
the  partial  or  total  failure  of  technical,  electronic,  or  mechanical 
equipment used to record or broadcast the Draw, will not invalidate 
the Draw. 3.10 Uthingo shall have no obligation to make any payment against an 
incorrectly  announced number  at  a  Draw. In  such an  event,  the 
witness  as  described  in  3.4  shall  confirm  the  correct  numbers  as 
recorded in Rule 3.3

4.0 PLAYING LOTTO 
4.1 
Each Game Board has a cost of R2.00 inclusive of VAT at 14%. 4.2 The cost of a Multi-Draw Ticket  will  be the total cost of the Game 
Boards selected multiplied by  the number of Draws the Player has 
chosen to enter. 4.3 Uthingo will provide Lotto Entry Coupons in all Retail Outlets at no 
cost to Players. 4. 4 Lotto Entry Coupons are provided  solely  for  the  convenience  of 
Players  and  shall  have no monetary  or  prize  value  nor  will  they 
constitute evidence of a play or of the numbers selected.Except in 
the case of an entry by subscription, a Valid Winning Ticket shall be 
the only valid basis for claiming a prize. 4.5 On any one Lotto Entry Coupon a Player may play a minimum of 
one Game Board. 4.6
Boards may be selected in any order. 4.7 A Player must manually mark in black or blue pen or pencil six (6) 
numbers from the numbers 1 to 49 inclusive on each of one or more 
Game Boards. 4.8 Where the Player uses the Multi-Draw facility he/she will mark his/ 
her  Selection  (s)  on  the  appropriate Boards on  the  Lotto Entry 
Coupon and mark the appropriate box on the Lotto Entry Coupon 
to determine the number of Lotto Draws for which his/her Selection 
(s) are to be entered. 4.9 For the purposes of the ``Number of Draws'' boxes on the Lotto Entry 
Coupon, the first week shall be a period commencing with the first 
available Saturday as selected by the Player and ending immediately 
prior to and excluding the Draw on the same day of the following 
calendar week,  the  next  week  shall  commence on  the  day  of  and 
from and including the Draw on the same day of the next calendar 
week, and subsequent weeks shall be similarly determined.

4.10 The  completed  Lotto  Entry  Coupon  with  the  appropriate amount 
due  shall  then  be  submitted  to  the  Retailer  who  will  process  the 
completed  Lotto  Entry Coupon    through  the  Terminal.A Ticket 
recording each selection marked on the coupon will be issued to the 
Player. 4.11 Lotto  Entry  Coupons  shall  be  processed  through  the  Terminal by 
the Retailer, or authorised staff and Tickets will be issued only through 
the Terminal. 4.12 
If the Terminal rejects the Lotto Entry Coupon, the entry is not valid. 4. 13 Tickets can be purchased at any outlet whose terminal is active between 
06.00 and 18.00 on Sundays, 06.00 to 23.00  Monday to Friday and 
up to 45 minutes before the draw on Saturday evening.The system 
will close for the conduct of the Draw  (the Draw Break) and will not 
start selling Tickets or paying prizes following the draw until Sunday 
morning.

5.0 CANCELLATION OF A TICKET 
5.1 Subject to paragraph 5.1 below, a Ticket, (other than an Exchange 
Ticket to which the provisions of 6.2 apply), may be cancelled in the 
event of error and if it is  returned to the issuing Terminal within 2 
hours of  the time when  it  was purchased, but prior to the close of 
Ticket sales on Draw days, and if the Ticket can be cancelled through 
the bar code reading device and optical mark reader on the Terminal. In the event the Ticket to be cancelled is not readable by the bar code 
reading device and or/ the optical mark reader, the Retailer will be 
required to contact Uthingo to receive authorisation for cancellation. 5.2 A Ticket purchased on the day of the Draw and eligible for that Draw 
may only be cancelled  if  returned to the issuing Terminal within 2 
HOURS  after  purchase  or  before  the  close  of  sales  for  that  Draw, 
whichever is the earlier. 5.3 On  cancellation  of  a  Ticket  the  Player  will  be  entitled  to  a  refund 
from the Retailer equal to the retail price of the Ticket. 5. 4 The Retailer  will  retain  the  cancelled Ticket together  with  the 
cancellation authorisation issued by the Terminal.

7. 1 Before  a  prize  may  be  paid on any Ticket,  it  must  be  validated 
according to Uthingo's validation procedures.Uthingo's decision as 
to whether or not the Ticket is valid shall be final and binding.Without 
prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, Uthingo shall be entitled 
to declare a Ticket invalid, and accordingly shall not be obliged to 
pay any prize, if: 
7.1.1 The Ticket  has  been  cancelled,  whether  in  accordance  with  the 
Uthingo's normal procedure for cancellation or otherwise. 7.1.2 The Ticket is counterfeit, has been forged in whole or in part or fails 
to pass the security test appropriate to the method of play. 7.1.3 The Ticket is mutilated, altered, unreadable, incomplete or tampered 
with in any manner. 7.1.4 The Ticket has not been received by Uthingo or the Retailer by the 
deadline as specified in Rule 9.1. 
7.1.5 The Serial Number of an apparent winning Ticket does not appear 
on Uthingo's  list  of  Serial  Numbers  of  Winning Tickets  or  a  Valid 
Winning Ticket with that Serial Number has been paid previously. 
7.0 TICKET VALIDATION REQUIREMENTS 
6.0 MULTI-DRAWS 
6.1 If a prize is paid on a Multi-Draw Ticket which is still valid for future 
Draws, an Exchange Ticket will be issued, in accordance with Uthingo's 
procedures,  to  the  owner  or  Claimant  together  with  his  /her  prize 
payment. 6.2 A Multi- Draw Ticket shall not be capable of cancellation other than 
in accordance with Rule 5 above and, in any event, prior to the first 
Draw  in  respect  of  which  the  Ticket  has  been  issued. No Exchange 
Ticket issued pursuant to a Multi-Draw Play will be cancelled.

7.1.6 The Ticket does not appear on Uthingo's list of Tickets sold for entry 
to  the particular Draw, kept on Uthingo's central computer, or the 
Ticket data fails to match the computer record of that Ticket in every 
respect. 7.1.7 Any number on the Ticket is not present in its entirety or is not fully 
legible. 7.1.8 The Ticket has not been issued or sold in an authorised manner by 
Uthingo or by an authorised National Lottery Retailer. 7.1.9 Except in the case of Mail Subscriptions, a Ticket shall be the only 
valid proof that an entry was made in a Draw and a Valid Winning 
Ticket shall be the only valid instrument for claiming a prize. 7.1.10 A Claimant shall be entitled to claim only the highest tier of prize for 
which the validated Ticket is eligible and not any lesser prize category 
or  any  otherwise  unclaimed  prize  in  the  particular  Draw  or  prize 
pool. 7.1.11 Uthingo reserves the right to withhold payment of any prize until it 
is entirely satisfied as to the validity of any Ticket and the Claimant's 
bona  fides,  and  reserves the  right  to  call  for  proof  of  identity  and 
eligibility to claim. 7.1.12 Uthingo reserves the right to photograph any Claimant for security 
purposes. 
7.0 TICKET VALIDATION REQUIREMENTS (continued) 
8.1 If  a  dispute  arises  between Uthingo and  the  owner  of  a  Ticket  or 
Claimant as to whether a Ticket is a Valid Winning Ticket, and the 
Ticket prize claimed has not been paid, Uthingo may,  solely  at  its 
option, reimburse the cost of the Ticket or replace the disputed Ticket 
with  a  Ticket  of  equivalent  sale  price  for  
any current Lotto Game. This shall be the owner of the Ticket or Claimant's sole and exclusive 
remedy, and such reimbursement or replacement shall fully discharge 
Uthingo from any liability in respect of such dispute.

9.1 Lotto prizes must be claimed no later than 23: 00 hrs on the 365th 
day after the Winning Draw date of the particular Game.Any such 
prize  not  claimed  within  this  period  will  be  forfeited. If  a  prize  is 
claimed by post, Uthingo must receive the Ticket and Claim Form at 
the address shown on the  reverse  of  the Ticket within  
this period. Claim Forms are available at all National Lottery Offices and Retail 
outlets. 10.1 Players who wish to play Lotto via a Mail Subscription rather than 
play at a Retail Outlet may obtain an application form by contacting 
the National Lottery. 10.2 
A Mail Subscription Player must be 18 years of age or over. 10.3 To enter, a completed Mail Subscription application form must be 
sent with the required payment or payment authority, to the National 
Lottery at the address shown on the form. 10.4 Payment can be made by money order, cheque, credit card or direct 
debit authority for the required amount which must be made payable 
to the National Lottery. 10.5 Any Mail Subscription payable by money order, cheque or direct debit 
authority for which Uthingo has not received full payment in cleared 
funds prior to the date on which  it  would have, but for such non- 
payment, become  a  winning Subscription,  is  void and  shall not in 
any case entitle its holder to a prize. 10. 6 Where  the  Subscriber's  payment  in  respect  of  a  Lotto Draw  is 
dishonoured, the Subscriber's number selection (s) will not be entered 
into that Draw.

Uthingo may at its discretion refuse to accept a Subscription.

10.8 Upon acceptance of a completed Mail Subscription application form 
and payment in full, (cleared funds) Uthingo will process and send 
to the address entered on that form, a Subscription Certificate (the 
``Certificate'') which gives details of the Player's Selection as recorded 
in its central computer system including an identifying subscription 
number. 10.9 Selections and Subscriber or Recipient names may not be changed 
once entered into the central computer system. 10.10 A Subscription shall be deemed to have been received by Uthingo 
on the date of the first Draw recorded on the Certificate. 10.11 Except  as  hereinafter  provided,  the  Certificate  shall  confirm  that, 
for  the  recorded number  of  Draws held  by  Uthingo  from and 
including the starting date shown therein, the Subscriber is deemed 
to have purchased each of the Boards indicated by the Certificate. 10. 12 Notification  of  any change  of  Subscriber's  or  Recipient's  address 
must be made in writing and signed by the Subscriber or Recipient, 
providing  details  of  the  change and including  the  Subscription 
number.The notification should  be  sent  to  the  National Lottery 
address appearing on the Mail Subscription application form. 10. 13 It  is  the  responsibility  of  the  Subscriber  or  where  applicable,  the 
Recipient to verify with the Subscriber, that the Certificate correctly 
shows the numbers selected by him/her and the number, frequency 
and commencement date of the Draws. 10.14 In the event there is a discrepancy between the numbers contained 
in  the Subscription  or  the  Certificate  and those contained in 
Uthingo's  central  computer  system,  only  those  numbers  recorded 
in Uthingo's central computer system participate in the Draws and 
Draw dates recorded therein.

10.15 The  liability  of  Uthingo  for  any  loss  suffered by  a  Subscriber or a 
Recipient as a result of any discrepancy, whether or not the same was 
caused by an act of Uthingo its employees, retailers or agents, and 
whether in negligence or otherwise, is limited to the amount of the 
Subscription  
monies. 10.16 Winners may  be  required  to  present  the  Certificate  together  with 
other identification as proof of entitlement to prizes. 10.17 The provisions  of  Rule 14 concerning submission  of  Claim Forms 
apply to Prize winners playing by Subscription. 10.18 Uthingo reserves the right to cancel, alter or modify at any time the 
whole or any part of the Lotto  Game subscribed for, and to cancel, 
alter  or  modify any Subscription  or  any condition  attaching to 
Subscriptions to the extent necessary or appropriate to reflect any 
such cancellation, alteration or modification. 10.19 In  the  event  of  a  cancellation  of  a  Draw, Uthingo  will  extend the 
Subscription to the next Draw.In the event of the cancellation of a 
Subscription,  Uthingo  will  make  a  proportionate  refund  to  the 
Subscriber, or if applicable to the Recipient. 10.20 Where the Subscriber has assigned his rights in a Subscription to a 
Recipient and given notice to Uthingo of that assignment, then all 
rights  and  obligations  in  respect  of  the  Subscription  (except  only 
the obligation to pay sums due for the Subscription) will vest in the 
Recipient absolutely. 10.21 In the event of alteration or modification of a Lotto Draw, or of any 
conditions attaching  to  Subscriptions,  Uthingo may  cancel  the 
existing  Certificate  and  issue  a  new  Certificate  reflecting  such 
alterations  or  modifications.The new  Certificate  shall  be  effective 
from the first Draw date recorded on the Certificate.

11.1 It shall be the sole responsibility of the Player to verify at the time of 
purchase  that  the  details  recorded on  the  Ticket  in  terms  of  the 
Selections(s),  number  of  Board(s),  Draw  date(s),  and number  of 
Draw(s) correspond with those marked on the Lotto Entry Coupon 
or otherwise specified, and that a Serial Number and bar code appear 
on the Ticket. 11.2 Until such time as a name and address is placed on the reverse side 
of a Ticket, the bearer of a Ticket which has been issued in accordance 
with the provisions of these Rules shall be the owner thereof for the 
purposes of these Rules.When a name and address is entered on the 
reverse side  of  the Ticket, subject  to  the provisions of these Rules, 
the person whose name and address appears there shall be the owner 
of that Ticket for the purposes of these Rules. 11.3 
The Player will be responsible for the safe custody of any Ticket. 11.4 Neither  Uthingo nor any Retailer will be responsible for loss, theft, 
mutilation or destruction of any Ticket or for any errors or omissions 
in respect of any data recorded on any Ticket insofar as the purchaser 
of the Ticket is solely responsible under Rule 11.5 above or for any 
loss of whatever nature suffered or incurred by any person as a result 
of any such event or condition affecting a Ticket. 11.6 The Player is solely responsible for claiming from a National Lottery 
Office or an authorised Retailer the full value of the prize to which 
he/she is entitled. 11.7 The Player's eligibility to win a prize is subject to the Ticket validation 
requirements set out in these Rules. 
11.0 RESPONSIBILITY FOR TICKETS

12.0 PURCHASE AND PRIZE RESTRICTIONS 
12.1 
There shall be no general right for any person to purchase a Ticket. In particular, but without limitation, no Ticket may be purchased by 
or prize paid to: 
. Any Minor whether  acting  on  his  own  behalf  or  on  behalf  of 
another person, 
. Directors and employees of the Uthingo or the National Lotteries 
Board. . Such other persons or category  of  persons as Uthingo and the 
Minister may determine from time to time. 12.2 If not withstanding 12.1 above a prize is paid to a person in one of 
the groups set out in that Rule, such prize shall be repayable by that 
person to Uthingo upon demand. 12. 3 Uthingo or any  Retailer, in its sole discretion, may refuse to sell Tickets 
to  any person  or  persons without  giving  reasons,  but  which may 
include  circumstances  in  which,  in  its  view, that person or persons 
are playing in a manner which it or the Retailer deems to be interfering 
with other Players reasonable access to that Game. 12.4 Lotto entries may only be lodged with Uthingo manually using the 
Terminal keypad or by means of a Lotto Entry Coupon hand-marked 
by  or  on  behalf  of  the  Player  or  by  such  other  means  specifically 
approved by Uthingo.Players must not use or seek to use facsimiles 
or copies of Lotto Entry Coupons,or other materials that are inserted 
into the Terminal's Lotto Entry Coupon reader that are not approved 
by Uthingo.

13.1 The results of each draw will be issued by Uthingo to the national 
media and may also be published in such other manner as Uthingo 
from time to time may determine and will also be made available at 
Retail Outlets as soon as practicable after each draw. 13.2 The information made available and disseminated will be: 
 The date of the draw 
 The winning numbers 
 The amount payable for each correct entry in each prize category 
 Such other information  as  Uthingo may  from time  to  time 
determine. 13. 2 The dissemination and publication  of  Winning Numbers by 
telephone, in the media and at the Retail Outlets is for information 
purposes only, and Uthingo  will  not pay  a  prize based upon 
information obtained from winning number information telephone 
lines or any other source other than the official Draw results recorded 
as in Rule 3 above and electronically recorded in the Uthingo's central 
computer system. 
13.0 DISSEMINATION OF WINNING NUMBERS

All Lotto prizes will be paid in accordance with Uthingo's procedures. 14.2 Each Lotto prize must be claimed within 365 days of the date from 
which prizes are first payable. 14.3 Prizes over R50 000 can only be paid in person to the Claimant or a 
duly  authorised  representative  at  a  National  Lottery  Office  after 
completion of a Claim Form and an identity check. 14.4 Uthingo reserves the right, at its discretion, to require the completion 
of a Claim Form in any other case. 14.5 A Claim Form must be completed in the name of only one owner of 
a  valid Winning Ticket.However, Uthingo may exceptionally and at 
its  sole discretion, waive this requirement in respect of a particular 
prize claim, such waiver to be in writing and subject to such terms 
and conditions as Uthingo shall require. 14.6 All Claim Forms shall be completed and signed by the Claimant or 
his/her legally authorised representative. 14.7 Uthingo may refuse to process for payment any Claim Form which is 
incomplete. 14. 8 If  a  Claimant  is  unable  to  complete  a  Claim Form due  to  legal, 
physical, or other disability, a duly authorised representative of the 
Claimant shall complete and sign a Claim Form on the Claimant's 
behalf. 14.9 The Claim Form must  state  the  name  of  the  Claimant  and/or  the 
authorised representative and describe the status of the signatory, if 
not the Claimant, Uthingo reserves the right to request evidence of 
the legal capacity of the authorised representative to claim.

14.10 If the person signing the Claim Form is a personal representative of 
the  estate  of  a  deceased Player,  that  person  shall  submit  with  the 
Claim Form such documentation  as  Uthingo  shall  in  its  discretion 
deem sufficient to properly establish such representative's entitlement 
to receive the relevant prize. 14.11 Payment of the prize to the person shown on the Claim Form as the 
Claimant  or  his/her  duly  authorised  representative  shall  fully  and 
effectively discharge Uthingo, its officers, employees representatives, 
contractors and any person,  firm, company authorised by Uthingo 
to  pay  Lotto  prizes  from any  further  liability  for  payment  of  that 
prize. 14. 12 A person who signs a Claim Form shall be deemed to have represented 
that  he/she  is  lawfully  entitled  to  claim  the  Prize,  the  information 
contained therein  is  accurate  and complete, and  shall  indemnify 
Uthingo against any claims with respect to the Ticket or delivery of 
the prize as result of any misrepresentation. 14.13 In the event  of  any inconsistency  in  the information submitted on 
the Claim Form and/or on the Ticket or for any other reason at its 
complete  discretion,  Uthingo may  investigate  and withhold  all 
winnings which may be due to the Claimant (or make a payment into 
court) until such time as the Claimant satisfies Uthingo that he/she 
is the proper person to whom the prize should be paid. 14.14 In  the  event  that  a  single  Ticket  contains  multiple  winning  plays, 
each from separate Selections, the total prize amount shall be paid in 
accordance  with  the  prize  payment arrangement  specified  in  Rule 
14.2.

14.15 Neither Uthingo nor any Retailer shall be responsible or liable to any 
person claiming  an  interest  of  whatever nature  in  a  lost  or  stolen 
Ticket as a result of the payment of a prize to the bearer of an unsigned 
Ticket or to the person purporting to be the person whose name is 
entered on the reverse of the Ticket, whether or not advice of the loss 
or theft had been notified to Uthingo prior to payment of the prize. Without prejudice to the above, Uthingo shall use its best endeavours 
to carry out and ensure that any Retailers or other persons responsible 
for payments of prizes shall carry out such identity checks and other 
security measures as Uthingo shall in its discretion from time to time 
deem  reasonable and appropriate  in  relation  to  payment  of  any 
particular prize amount. 14.16 In the event that Uthingo, in its absolute discretion, believes that the 
bearer of a Ticket presented for payment or a person whose name 
has been entered on the reverse side of the Ticket or who has completed 
a Claim Form  is  not the rightful owner thereof or lawfully entitled 
thereto, it shall be entitled to withhold payment of any prize winnings 
pending the outcome of all appropriate checks and enquiries. 14.17 Uthingo shall not be liable to make payments of any prize on a Ticket 
which it knows or suspects has been resold or otherwise transferred 
by way of trade. 14.18 Uthingo shall not be liable to pay interest on any winnings in respect 
of  any period during which  security  or  other  relevant  checks or 
enquiries are in process regarding any Ticket presented for payment 
by a Claimant, or during any period in which a dispute relating to 
the validity of a Ticket or a claim has not been resolved.

Payment by Post 
14.19 A prize of R2,000 or less may be claimed, entirely at the Claimant's 
risk, by posting the Winning Ticket together with a completed Claim 
Form  to  the  National  Lottery  Office  at  the  address  shown on the 
Claim Form. 14.20 The Ticket shall contain the name and address of the Claimant on 
the reverse side.If a Ticket is posted to the National Lottery Office 
that does not have a name appearing on the reverse side of the Ticket, 
payment will be made subject to the provisions of these Rules, to the 
person whose name appears on the Claim Form. 14. 21 Uthingo  will  pay such Claimant by cheque  in  accordance with 
Uthingo's procedures provided  that  all  the Ticket validation 
requirements referred to in these rules have been met. 14.22 Uthingo may apply to a court of competent jurisdiction to determine 
the lawful payee in any particular case. 14.23 Save as provided above, the right of any person to a prize shall not be 
assignable. 14.24 Under no circumstances shall any prize be payable by way of goods 
or services in lieu of cash, cheque, or electronic transfer.

15.1 Any person who purchases or submits a Ticket for validation or who 
claims  a  prize  in  whatever capacity, agrees  to  be bound  by  the 
provisions of the Act, any regulation made thereunder; and by the 
provision of these Rules as amended from time to time by Uthingo 
in respect of Lotto. 15.2 Each prizewinner is deemed to acknowledge that if and to the extent 
that Uthingo is legally obligated to provide a third party with details 
of any prize claimed by or on behalf of, or paid to the prizewinner, 
Uthingo shall be entitled to do so. 15.3 Uthingo may amend, modify, or otherwise change these Rules.Such 
amendments, modifications or changes shall be applicable with effect 
from their introduction and shall be applicable to prior Games so far 
as they relate to claim and prize payment procedures. 15.4 These Rules, the conditions and explanations appearing on Tickets 
and such other conditions as are established, constitute the 
contractual  rights  and obligations of Uthingo  to  owners  of  Tickets 
and Claimants with respect to the game of Lotto.In the event of a 
discrepancy or  inconsistency between the Rules and the conditions 
and explanations appearing on a Ticket or such other conditions as 
are established by Uthingo, these Rules shall prevail. 15.5 Where the context so requires, in these Rules the neuter gender shall 
include  the  feminine  or  masculine gender and  vice  versa  and the 
singular shall include the plural and vice versa. 15.6 In the event that any provision of these Rules, of the conditions and 
explanations appearing on  a  Ticket or  of  such other conditions as 
are established by Uthingo are determined by a court of competent 
jurisdiction  to  be  void  or  unenforceable,  such  determination  shall 
solely  affect  such  provision  and  shall  not,  in  itself,  render  void  or 
unenforceable the remaining provisions hereof. 15.7 Neither any member of the Playing Public nor a Retailer shall enter 
into any special agreement for the sale of a Ticket or Tickets outside 
the method of play determined by Uthingo and specified in these 
Rules.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY 16.1 The Retailer is authorised by Uthingo to sell Tickets, to pay prizes in 
respect of  alid Winning Tickets and to process Ticket cancellations 
in  relation  to  Lotto  in  accordance  with  these  Rules and  to  display 
and/or have available information produced by Uthingo in respect of 
Lotto. Save as specified in the written agreement between Uthingo 
and the Retailer, a Retailer is not authorised by Uthingo to carry out 
any other acts or make any omissions whatsoever. 16.2 If a Defective Ticket is purchased it shall be void and Uthingo's only 
liability shall be reimbursement of its cost. 16.3 If  a  Ticket  is  purchased which  is  cancelled  whether  in  accordance 
with Uthingo's normal procedures for cancellation or otherwise, the 
only liability of Uthingo (or the Retailer) as the case may be shall be 
the reimbursement of the cost of the Ticket. 16.4 Neither Uthingo nor any Retailer shall in any circumstances be liable 
for  any  loss  of  whatever nature,  including  but  without  limitation, 
indirect or consequential loss, suffered or incurred by any Player, any 
bearer or owner of a Ticket, any Claimant or any other person arising 
from the withdrawal of any Game or from the participation or non- 
participation  of  any person  in  any Game, including  the  loss,  for 
whatever  reason,  of  the  chance  to  participate  in  such Game.In 
particular, but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, 
neither Uthingo nor any Retailer shall be liable to any person in the 
event of force majeure.

17.1 Subject to the provisions of the Rules, a Player who, in respect of any 
Selection, has three or more numbers which match the main numbers 
will  be  entitled  to  a  prize  in  the  highest  category  to  which those 
numbers relate. 17.2 Prize  Division  Seven means  that  the  Player  has  correctly  matched 
three numbers  in  any one Selection  from the  six  drawn.The 
appropriate prize category is called MATCH THREE OF SIX MAIN 
NUMBERS  (``  MATCH THREE'') 
17.3 Prize Division Six means that the Player has correctly matched three 
numbers in any one Selection from the six drawn and matched the

16. 5 Uthingo  shall  have  the  right  to  suspend  or  withdraw and/ or  to 
suspend  the  play  of  any Game  from any Terminal at  its  absolute 
discretion at any time on account of: 
16.2.1 the failure of, or damage or destruction to Uthingo's central 
computer system or records, or any part thereof, or; 
16.2.2 delays, losses error or omissions in or made by the postal or 
other delivery service or by the banking system, or: 
16.2.3 any other action or event which prevents or hinders the issue 
of a valid Ticket, or; 
for  the refusal  to  sell  a  Ticket  to  any person  in  accordance

18.1 The  allocation  of  the  Prize  Fund  to  each  of  the  prize  categories 
shall be in accordance with the following provisions: 
18.1.1 Prize money allocated to each of the prize categories will be divided 
equally by the number of Winning Selections in that category. 18.1.2 If in any Draw, there are no Selections qualifying for a prize in the 
Match Six category the prize monies for this category will be added 
to the Match Six prize fund for the next Draw. 18.1.3 If in any Draw, there are no Selections qualifying for a prize in the 
Match Five plus Bonus Number category, the prize monies for this 
category will be added to the Match Six category for that Draw. 18.1.4 On the fifth consecutive Draw in which there is no Winning Match 
Six Selection, then the entire prize pool for the Match Six category 
will be added to the Match Five plus Bonus Number prize fund for 
that fifth Draw. 18.1.5 Should there be no Winning Selection for Match Six under 18..3 
above and no Winning  Selection  for  the  Match Five  plus  Bonus 
Number, the prize money  for the Match Six category and the prize 
money for the Match Five plus Bonus Number will be added to the 
prize fund for the Match Five category for that Draw. 18.1.6 If in any Draw, there are no Selections qualifying for a prize in Match 
Five category, the prize money for this category shall be added to 
the  prize  fund  for  the  Match Four  plus  Bonus Number category 
for that Draw. 18.1.7 If  in  any Draw there are no  Selections  qualifying  for  a  prize  the 
Match Four plus Bonus Number category the prize money for this 
category will be divided equally by the number of Winning Selections 
for the Match Four category and added to the prize fund for the 
Match Four category for that Draw.

18.1.8 If  in  any Draw there are no  Selections  qualifying  for  a  prize  the 
Match Four category the prize money for this category will be divided 
equally by the number of Winning Selections for the Match Three 
plus Bonus Number category and added to the prize fund for the 
Match Three plus Bonus Number category for that Draw. 18.1.9 If  in  any Draw there are no  Selections  qualifying  for  a  prize  the 
Match Three  plus  Bonus Number  category  the  prize  money  for 
this  category  will  be  divided  equally  by  the  number of Winning 
Selections  for  the  Match Three  plus  category  and added  to  the 
prize fund for the Match Three category for that Draw. 18.1.10  In  the  event  of  a  Cancelled Draw and provided  that,  before  the 
immediately preceding Draw that event is known to Uthingo then 
if in the preceding Draw: 
(a) There are no Winning Selections  in  the Match Six category, 
the entire prize fund for the Match Six category will be added 
to Match Five Plus Bonus Number prize fund for that Draw. (b) There are no Winning Selections in Match Six and Match Five 
plus Bonus Number categories, the prize monies for both these 
categories will be added to the Match Five category prize fund 
for that Draw. (c) There are no Winning Selections in the Match Five category, 
the prize money for that category will be added to the prize 
fund  for  the  Match Four  plus  Bonus Number category  for 
that Draw. (d) There are no Winning Selections qualifying for a prize in the 
Match Four  Plus  Bonus Number category,  the  prize  money 
for  that  category  will  be  divided  equally  by  the  number  of 
Winning Selections for the Match Four category in that Draw.

(e) There are no Winning Selections qualifying for a prize in the 
Match Four category, the prize money for that category will be

for that Draw. (f) There are no Winning Selections qualifying for a prize in the 
Match Three plus Bonus Number category,  the prize money 
for  that  category  will  be  divided  equally  by  the  number  of 
Winning Selections for the Match Three category and added 
to the prize fund for the Match Three category for that Draw.

19.0 REFUNDS IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES 
19.1 In the event of a Cancelled Draw Uthingo shall: 
(a) refund  to  a  Player  who  has  purchased  either  a  Ticket  for  the 
Cancelled Draw only or a Multi- Draw ticket for the Cancelled 
Draw and other Draws, an amount equal to that part of the Ticket 
purchase price as was paid  in respect of and  is  attributable to 
the Cancelled Draw; 
(b) refund  to  the  Subscribers  who hold  a  valid  Mail  Subscription 
for Draws which include the Cancelled Draw that proportion of 
the amount previously paid by the Subscriber  for  that 
Subscription as was paid in respect of and is attributable to the 
Cancelled Draw; 
(c) pay to a Player who holds a Ticket for the Cancelled Draw the 
amount which would have been properly payable by the Player 
had the Player purchased that Ticket from a Retailer. 19. 2 
Any refund and payment under 19.1 (a) and 19.1 (c) above respectively 
must be claimed by the Player.The methods of claiming, payment 
the validation of claims and subject to (19.1) below the period within 
which such claims may be made being as determined by Uthingo in 
its  absolute  discretion  from time  to  time  but  subject  to  the  prior 
agreement of the National Lotteries Board.A Player will in any event 
be required to produce the Ticket before any refund or payment will 
be made. 19.3 The period referred to in (19.1) above shall be a period expiring not 
earlier than the day 90 days after the date on which the Cancelled 
Draw was to have taken place. 19.4 
Any refund under (19.1  b) above shall be made by such means and 
within such period  as  Uthingo  shall  in  its  absolute discretion 
determine from time to time but subject to the prior agreement of 
the National Lotteries Board.

20.0 DECISIONS OF UTHINGO BINDING 
Uthingo's decision as to whether or not a Ticket  is a winning Ticket or in 
respect of any other matter or dispute arising from the payment or awarding 
or non-payment or non-awarding of prizes shall be final and binding upon 
all Players and any other person or persons having any interest in the matter 
or dispute.In the event of a dispute in respect of a winning Ticket, a Claim 
Form,  or  the  payment  or  awarding  of  any  prize,  Uthingo may withhold 
payment of the prize and/or make an equivalent payment into court until 
the dispute has been resolved. These Rules and the rights and obligations of Uthingo and Players set out 
therein  shall  be  governed  by  and construed  in  all  respects  in  accordance 
with the laws of the Republic of South Africa and the South African Courts 
shall have jurisdiction. 
21.0 LAW 
22.1 Lotto Game Rules are available in other languages upon request from 
the National Lottery, Private Bag X72, Auckland Park 2006 or call 
Player Thusong on 0800 40 30 40 (Tollfree) between 06.00 and 22.00 
every day. 
22.0 OTHER LANGUAGES 
19.2 Neither Uthingo nor any Retailer shall in any circumstances be liable 
to pay interest in respect of funds or payments made under this Rule 
19. 19.1 For the avoidance of doubt, this paragraph shall not apply in respect 
of  any Draw which  is  delayed or postponed nor  in  respect  of  any 
Draw which is cancelled but which is not a Cancelled Draw as defined 
in these Rules.
